Limestone powder

Limestone is the name given to sediment rocks which mainly consist of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) in the form of calcite and aragonite minerals.

Limestone is an extremely variable rock; which applies to both its creation and its properties, appearance and economic usability. Limestone is one of the most important raw materials for the construction industry.  It is processed and ground in lime works, converted into burnt lime or mixed with clayey materials and burned to form cement.

As carbonate it is used for flue gas desulphurisation, and finely ground it is used in agriculture and the water industry to prevent the acidification of soil and water courses. Calcium compound is used as an additive in the glass industry, for forming slag in the iron and steel industry and as a fertilizer. Very fine sandstones (white lime) are used as raw materials by the chemical industry or are processed to make terazzo.
